A. Arabica produces some of the most delicious coffees in the world, and therefore it is of no surprise that most of the coffee consumed today comes from the arabica species. There are thousands of varieties of arabica, each one offering a deliciously sweet, complex cup of coffee, with the dreamiest of aromas.

A. Robusta beans tend to be quite bitter and earthy in taste. This is due to the reduced number of sugar compounds. While the reduced sweetness content is may make this bean less appealing to some, Robusta does boat a high caffeine content, and contains more caffeine than Arabica. This is something to consider if like me, you have a 2-year-old who doesn’t sleep.

A. It is uncertain when coffee was first discovered, there is still much debate around this, and many interesting stories to discover. However, the most popular versions tell us that coffee was first discovered in Ethiopia by a goatherder by the name of Kaldi. It is said that he noticed that his goats became “energised” after eating from a tree. He tried the fruits himself and he also experienced a surge of energy. He also noticed that he was able to stay awake much later into the night. It is said that Kaldi shared his findings with a monk at the local monastery and he made a drink with the fruit. The drink was shared with other monks who noticed the energising benefits. Pray sessions were now able to be extended. And so, the coffee beverage was born.

A. Speciality coffee, like our coffee, is made with quality in mind, which is what sets us apart from conventional supermarket bought coffee. You will experience a wide range of flavours and aromas. And the coffee will always be freshly roasted. The quality of coffee bought in a supermarket cannot be compared to the quality found in speciality coffee and tends to taste quite bitter and earthy.
